BayWa’s Cefetra Group business unit enters the milk and dairy products market

BayWa’s Cefetra Group business unit has entered the milk and dairy products market. On 1 November, the international agricultural trade specialist launched Cefetra Dairy, a new company offering a broad range of dairy products such as cheese, butter and milk powder, as well as alternatives to milk. The move marks another important step in the diversification strategy of Cefetra Group, one of Europe’s largest importers of grain and oilseed.

“Demand for dairy products is high in many parts of the world. This represents tremendous market potential,” says Prof. Klaus Josef Lutz, Chief Executive Officer of BayWa AG. “With our decision to expand Cefetra Group’s activities to the dairy sector, we are making an important contribution to meeting the wishes of consumers around the world for a balanced diet – especially in countries where demand outstrips production capacity.”

Daan Vriens, CEO of Cefetra Group, adds: “Our roots are in supplying ingredients to animal feed producers which we complemented with specialty feed and food ingredients over the last years. We will use this firm foundation to further expand our offering in the coming years. Our goal is to strengthen Cefetra Group further as a leading trader of high-quality ingredients to the food and animal nutrition industry. Cefetra Dairy trades products that fit very well with our long-term goals and other recently acquired businesses within our group.”

According to Peter ten Kate, Managing Director of Cefetra Dairy, the new unit’s business model complements Cefetra Group’s strategy and underscores its openness to new markets and trading opportunities with high long-term potential. “We will now gradually put together a strong sales team and extend our network of suppliers and customers.”
